In fact, Drivers consistently achieve a <strong>greater than 98% on-time average.<\/strong>\u00a0Way to go!<\/p>\n<p>So what\u2019s the problem with being early? Isn\u2019t early better than being on time?<\/p>\n<p>Not necessarily. Arriving a little early may not seem like a big deal to a Driver, but it could create negative impacts for a rider.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI came from a military family,\u201d said Hannah Craig, Senior Associate for Driver Onboarding at UZURV, at a recent webinar. \u201cMy dad\u2019s motto was, \u2018Being early is being on time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever there are situations where that can be a problem,\u201d Craig continued. \u201cThis is one of them.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text_color=&#8221;color-210407&#8243; heading_semantic=&#8221;h4&#8243; text_font=&#8221;font-555555&#8243; text_size=&#8221;fontsize-892903&#8243; text_weight=&#8221;700&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;554467&#8243; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;]How early is too early?[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_row_inner limit_content=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;170181&#8243;]In the UZURV Learning Center, Drivers are instructed to show up exactly at the rider pickup time. Not early and certainly not late.<\/p>\n<p>But when is it too early?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarly means early,\u201d said Ron Brooks, Senior Director for Policy and Stakeholder Engagement at UZURV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the pickup time is 8:00 a.m., then 7:59 a.m. is considered early,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>While that may seem a bit strict, there are important reasons for following UZURV\u2019s on-time policy.<\/p>\n<p>Riders enjoy lives full of family, pets, work, and errands. They choose a pickup time that makes sense for them and their busy lives, knowing they have until the pickup time to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>When a Driver arrives early, the rider may not be ready. They could be finishing breakfast or gathering their things. Or maybe they have a sleeping family and pets who bark. Some riders have caregivers who help them dress and they need extra time.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of why a rider set a specific time, arriving early isn\u2019t helpful for them. Given that many of our riders have mobility issues, <strong>rushing can also impact their safety.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel awkward when someone is waiting for me,\u201d said Brooks, who often uses paratransit services to get around. \u201cEspecially when they stand at my front door, tapping their foot, and making our pet dog, Daisy, bark. I feel stressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even when drivers say they\u2019ll wait, a rider may still feel rushed \u2013 especially when the driver is waiting at the door.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that if I\u2019m rushed, I\u2019m going to forget something,\u201d said Craig. \u201cI get flustered. Our riders do, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flustered riders can translate into cranky riders \u2013 or worse. Getting flustered could impact their safety. And again, no one wants that.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text_color=&#8221;color-210407&#8243; heading_semantic=&#8221;h4&#8243; text_font=&#8221;font-555555&#8243; text_size=&#8221;fontsize-892903&#8243; text_weight=&#8221;700&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;193815&#8243; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;]What if I arrive a bit early?[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;289095&#8243;]<strong>Do your best to arrive on time.<\/strong> But if you do show up a little early, Brooks offers great advice to avoid creating stressful or unsafe conditions for riders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, from your vehicle, call the rider through the app. Do not approach their door.<\/li>\n<li>Tell your rider you know you are early. Tell them not to rush and that you will <strong>wait in your vehicle until the pickup time.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Let them know you will not leave them and you will come to the door on time.<\/li>\n<li>At pickup time, approach the rider\u2019s door to deliver door-to-door service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIf you are respectful of your rider\u2019s time, they are much less likely to be stressed out and take that out on you,\u201d said Brooks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing on time just leads to a better outcome,\u201d he concluded.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator sep_color=&#8221;color-prif&#8221; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;207682&#8243; sep_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=&#8221;0&#8243; back_color=&#8221;color-gyho&#8221; overlay_alpha=&#8221;50&#8243; gutter_size=&#8221;3&#8243; column_width_percent=&#8221;100&#8243; shift_y=&#8221;0&#8243; z_index=&#8221;0&#8243; content_parallax=&#8221;0&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;577545&#8243; back_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/1&#8243;][vc_icon icon_image=&#8221;87155&#8243; media_size=&#8221;100&#8243; text_font=&#8221;font-388954&#8243; text_size=&#8221;fontsize-189434&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;293689&#8243; title=&#8221;Door-to-Door Service is UZURV Policy&#8221;][\/vc_icon][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;876308&#8243;]<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p>Door-to-door service is one practice that sets UZURV apart from other rideshares.<\/p>\n<p>Because our riders have mobility needs, <strong>Drivers are required to perform door-to-door service for every ride.<\/strong> Here&#8217;s a refresher:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to DO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get out of your vehicle when you arrive at the pickup location.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the outermost door, knock or ring the bell, and greet your rider.<\/li>\n<li>Ask the rider, \u201cWhat can I do to assist you to the vehicle today?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>As needed, assist the rider from the door of the pickup location to the door of your vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>When you reach the destination, assist the rider from your vehicle to the door of their destination, as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with 2-4 bags as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What NOT to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transfer passengers from wheelchairs to vehicle seats.<\/li>\n<li>Lift or carry riders.<\/li>\n<li>Cross residential doorways or enter buildings to look for riders.<\/li>\n<li>Check a rider out of a care facility.<\/li>\n<li>Pick up prescriptions.<\/li>\n<li>Secure car seats in the vehicle or place children in a car seat.
